EXOSKELETON — σκελετός

Space and Materiality

Personal Exoskeleton

project description — research and explore the notion of human senses.

The objective for this project is to explore and discover the emotions and physical haptics. Design an exoskeleton or an external skeleton that supports and protects the body inspired by insects.

The Arthropod

A scorpion is an arthropod with no internal bones for support. The scorpion's body is divided into three segments: the head, abdomen, and tail. The main focus is on the scorpion's abdomen or mesosoma because the exoskeleton has a unique pattern that creates a layering effect to protect the body.

Inspiration

The inspiration came from Zayn Malik’s Versace robot arm appendage at The Met Gala in 2016, where the theme was Manus X Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. During my exploration, I was inspired by Iris Van Herpen’s Lucid collection, where she focuses on the concept of lucid dreaming.
